STS Division

STS Division started out as Samyang Metal Industries, which began stainless steel cold rolling in 1962.
It later became the SBS Division of Taihan Electric Wire Co., Ltd. When POSCO AST was launched in 2009,
it became part of the POSCO Family, the best steel company in Korea. It exclusively handles POSCO products,
and we will place the utmost priority on satisfying customers and create values based on customers’ trust.

Tips on cleaning the surface

To maintain the beauty and cleanliness of stainless steel, its inherent characteristics, and use it for a long time without rusting, it must be cleaned and managed periodically. When cleaning it, you must take care not to scratch the surface, and avoid using detergents containing bleaching agents and abrasives, or abrasive sponges or polishing instruments, and wash it with clean water after cleaning to remove the cleaning agents.

How to clean the surface by condition

EnvironmentWashing method
Stains, e.g. dust, that can be removed easily Clean it with soap, mild detergent or warm water.
Label and protective film Clean it with warm water or mild detergent, and use alcohol or organic solvent for adhesives.
Fat, oil or grease contamination Wipe it with soft cloth or paper, and clean it with a neutral detergent, ammonium solution or a professional cleaning agent.
Adhesion of bleach and various acids Clean it with water immediately, and soak it in an ammonium or sodium bicarbonate solution, then clean it with a neutral detergent or warm water.
Adhesion of carbonized organic matters and carbon Soak it in a neutral detergent or ammonium solution before cleaning, and use a detergent containing mild abrasives.
Fingerprint Use alcohol or organic solvent (ether or benzene) and wipe it with a soft cloth then wash it with water.
Rainbow Film It is caused by use of excessive detergents or oil, and cleaning it with warm water or neutral detergents.
Parts discolored by welding Clean it with 10% nitric acid solution or hydrofluoric acid, and neutralize it with ammonium or sodium bicarbonate solution, then wash it with water.
Rust caused by surface contaminants Use oxalic acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid solution (10%) or abrasive detergents.
